This is a first of it's kind course and a must attend for anyone performing robotic surgery. The course was designed to help surgeons in their time of most extreme need. It is presented by some of the worlds most experienced faculty who have stored video of their most extreme and difficult scenarios during robotic surgery.
The course is video based and will focus on urologic oncology. It will show video footage of some of the most difficult anatomical and technical challenges that pushed even the worlds most experienced robotic surgeons to their limits
This extreme video course outlines management of challenging scenarios, complications, observation and management of never seen before anatomy, surgical adaptation and improvisation.

Topics: Cancer of the Prostate, Kidney and Bladder. Scenarios presented include: cases that were aborted due to challenging anatomy, rectal injury, obturator injury, pudendal artery management, extremely obese patient, salvage surgery, massive prostates, renal vascular injury and excessive bleeding during surgery. These are all scenarios that most robotic surgeons will face at some point in their practice. In this course you will learn how the experts managed these issues and survived.

Vipul R. Patel

Global Robotics Institute

Vipul Patel, MD, FACS is the Medical Director of the Global Robotics Institute at Florida Hospital Celebration Health and Medical Director of the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute Urologic Oncology Program. He is a Professor of Urology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor of Urology at Nova Southeastern University. He is the Founder of the International Prostate Cancer Foundation and a Founding Member of the Society of Robotic Surgery. He is Editor Emeritus of The Journal of Robotic Surgery and Editor of the first-ever robotic urology textbook.

Dr. Patel is one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the world and has personally performed more than 11,000 robotic prostatectomies. He leads one of the world’s most experienced robotic surgery teams and has developed techniques in robotic surgery that have helped improve cancer treatment and the return of early urinary continence and sexual function.

Dr. Patel has traveled the globe lecturing and teaching. He has educated thousands of surgeons in robotic surgical techniques. He has started robotic surgery programs and performed surgery around the world. He serves as an honorary professor at the University of Milan, Korea University and Ricardo Palma University in Lima, Peru. He is also an honorary professor of the Russian Academy of Science.

Dr. Patel previously served as director of the Robotic Surgery Program at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. During his tenure, he was in charge of minimally invasive urologic surgery and an Associate Professor of Urology and Bioinformatics.

Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Urological Association and completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Miami.

David M. Albala

Crouse Hospital

Dr. David M. Albala graduated with a geology degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He completed his medical school training at Michigan State University and went on to complete his surgical residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Following this, Dr. Albala was an endourology fellow at Washington University Medical Center under the direction of Ralph V. Clayman. He practiced at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and rose from the ranks of Instructor to full Professor in Urology and Radiology in eight years. After 10 years at Loyola University, he became a tenured Professor at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. At Duke, he was Co-Director of the Endourology fellowship and Director for the Center of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Urological Surgery. He has over 180 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored three textbooks in endourology and one in general urology. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Robotic Surgery.

At the present time he is Chief of Urology at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York and Medical Director for Associated Medical Professionals (a group of 29 urologists). He is considered a national and international authority in laparoscopic and robotic urological surgery and has been an active teacher in this area for over 20 years. His research and clinical interests have focused on robotic urological surgery and biomarkers used in Prostate cancer. In addition, other clinical interests include minimally invasive treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and the use of fibrin sealants in surgery. He has been a Visiting Professor at numerous institutions across the United States as well as overseas.

In addition, Dr. Albala is a past White House Fellow who acted as a special assistant to Federico Pena, Secretary of Transportation, on classified and unclassified public health related issues.

Alexandre Mottrie

ORSI Academy

Professor Alexandre Mottrie MD PhD graduated in 1988 from the School of Medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He completed his residency in 1994 at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany where he was a Staff Member till 1996. Afterwards, he served as a Fellow in Washington University St.-Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. for six months to improve his laparoscopic skills. Since 1996, he is Urologist in the O.L.V.-Clinic in Aalst, Belgium. On December 5 2011, he successfully defended his Ph.D. in the University of Saarland, Homburg-Saar, Germany.
His major interests are urological oncology and robotic surgery. He is a pioneer in robotic surgery and started this in 2001. He developed different types of robotic surgery. At his department, he developed a training center in this field. He trained numerous colleagues in the field of robotic surgery. With over 4000 robotic procedures, he has one of the largest experiences in the robotic field.
In 2010, Dr. Mottrie founded the ORSI-Academy, a multidisciplinary school of robotic and minimal-invasive surgery.
Dr. Mottrie is scientifically very involved. He has authored multiple scientific papers and organised several international Congresses and Masterclasses in these fields. He has been actively involved in several congresses to perform live-surgery, give courses and/or present state-of-the-art lectures. He is the Scientific Director of the ERUS-congresses and the Global Congress on Prostate Cancer (Prosca). Actually, he is the president of the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS), past-president of the Society of Robotic Surgeons (SRS) and the past-president of the Belgian Laparoscopic Urology Group (BLUG). He is Associate Professor in the Universität des Saarlandes Homburg-Saar (Germany) and the University of Ghent (Belgium). He recently received the “Golden Telescope Award” at the Hamlyn Symposium in London (20/06/2015)
