The aim of the course would be:
1) To discuss the Step by step technique in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy with all approaches(retro, trans, robotic).
2) To discuss the trouble shooting in all approaches.
3) To allude to the donor selection criteria and issues related to them.
4) To provide a evidence based knowledge as regards laparoscopic approach versus open approach.

Muljibhai Patel Urological Association

A graduate of B.J. Medical College under the auspices of Pune University, India, Dr. Mahesh Desai pursued his post graduation (MS) studies from the same Alma Mater. Trained in Urology, he was a recipient of the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of London and Edinburgh (FRCS) in 1973. A decade later, he took over as the Chairman of the Department of Uroglogy at Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (1983 - June, 2010), following which he served the Hospital as its Medical Director (June, 2010 - August, 2016). He now sits as the Managing Trustee of MPUH and Honorary Managing Director of Muljibhai Patel Society for Research in Nephro-Urology (February, 2001) and the Director of the Jayaramdas Patel Academic Center.

Dr. Barry is Professor of Urology and Professor of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation at the Oregon Health & Science University. He was Chief of Urology from 1979-2008 when he stepped down to be President of the American Urological Association (AUA). He was Director of Kidney Transplantation from 1976 to 2009, and he stepped down on the 50th anniversary of that program. From 2001-2002 he was President of the American Board of Urology. He is the Immediate Past- President of the Urologic Society for Transplantation and Renal Surgery, and of the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons. In 2007, he underwent a successful radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, and in 2011-2012, he was a panel member on the NIH State-of-the-Science Conference on the role of active surveillance in the management of prostate cancer. He was the 2014 recipient of the Society of Government Services H. Godwin Stevenson Award, the 2015 recipient of the AUA's Ramon Guiterras Award, and the 2016 Laureate of the Societe Internationale d'Urologie Astellas European Foundation Award. He is currently a 0.50 FTE the same institution where he has spent his entire academic career.

Arvind P. Ganpule

Dr Arvind P. Ganpule is currently, Vice- Chairman, Department of Urology and Chief, Division of laparoscopic and robotic surgery at the Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH), Nadiad, India. Dr Arvind Ganpule is a postgraduate guide for urology trainees at MPUH Nadiad, India.
He has 125 pubmed indexed publications to his credit in reputed peer reviewed National and International Journals .In addition, he has authored 23 book chapters and edited one book. He was a lead investigator in the largest epidemiological study in India, investigating the natural history of BPH in western India. He has innovated a novel low cost retrieval bag in laparoscopy.(known as the Nadiad bag) He was involved with the team at MPUH, Nadiad India in developing the microperc system with Polydiagnost GmBH. He has one patent filed with Indian patent office.
He is on the Editoral board of Indian journal of urology(IJU) and Journal of minimal access surgery(JMAS).He has been on the editorial board of SpringerPLUS since past three months. He was named the” Best national reviewer” for the IJU and the endourology society(Engineering section) in the year 2012 and 2015.
,Dr Ganpule is a recipient of the prestigious MIUC scholarship of the of Urological society of India. He has also received the F1000 AFM travel Award and grant (For excellent post publication reviews)consecutively for three years(2012,13,14).He was named the AUA-USI(Chakravarty fellowship) scholar for year 2012. Dr Ganpule has been on the faculty for the AUA IC course on laproscopic donor nephrectomy for past 4 years
