073IC - AUA Guidelines 2018: The Evaluation & Management of Testosterone Deficiency - What You Need to Know

This course will review the new AUA guidelines on testosterone deficiency. Faculty will explore the rigorous process used in the development of these evidence based guidelines, as well as discuss future research needs. The course will provide a clinical framework for the diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and follow-up of patients with testosterone deficiency based on the best available published literature. The course will showcase clinical scenarios in urological practice and the correct application of the new AUA guidelines in those instances. This course will be a benefit to practicing urologists, primary care providers, other non-physician providers, residents preparing for their re-certification exam and physicians preparing for their re-certification exam.

Robert E. Brannigan

Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine

Robert E. Brannigan, MD is a Professor in the Department of Urology at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine with a clinical and research focus on male reproductive medicine and surgery and fertility preservation. He obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University. After completing residency training in Urology at Northwestern, he entered a fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Brannigan returned to join the Faculty at Northwestern in 1999 where he is a Professor and Director of the Andrology Fellowship. Over half of his prior fellows now hold faculty positions at academic medical centers.

Dr. Brannigan has been actively involved in the leadership of many national organizations and societies. He is a Past President of the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology (SMRU) and also a Past President of the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR). He is a member the AUA Core Curriculum Committee, and he is an Assistant Editor for The Journal of Urology. He is an ad hoc reviewer for numerous other peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Landon Trost, MD, is a Urologist specializing in andrology and male infertility in the Department of Urology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He received his undergraduate training at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Valedictorian. He underwent his medical training at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where he received honors in all classes and rotations and was awarded Junior AOA status. He completed residency training in urology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and was named as a Mayo Scholar Recipient. He continued specialty fellowship training in andrology and infertility at Tulane University, University of Florida, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His clinical and research interests include male factor infertility and vasectomy reversal, Peyronie’s disease, and hypogonadism. Dr. Trost is currently serving on the American Urological Association Guideline Panel for Hypogonadism, the Chair of the Young Clinician Committee and a member of the Board of Directors for the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, a member of the Board of Directors for the International Society of Sexual Medicine, an Associate Editor for the Journal of Sexual Medicine, and the co-Chair of the Communications Committee for the International Society of Sexual Medicine. He contributed to the core curriculum material for the American Urological Association on the topics of male hypogonadism and male infertility and previously was involved with guideline creation on topics of penile prostheses, vacuum therapies, traction devices, and vascular surgery for erectile dysfunction during the 2015 International Consultation on Sexual Medicine.
