Steve K. Wilson

Steven K Wilson MD, FACS, FRCS is a former Professor of Urology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The Steven K Wilson Chair of Prosthetic Urology was endowed at this University in 2007. Having performed over 11,000 implants in 51 countries, he has been visiting professor at most of US training programs and numerous foreign centers. He is the author of 225 peer revuewed publications, videos and abstracts, 16 testbook chapters, many reference surgical videos and 5 prosthetic urology textbooks. He is the 2010 recipient of the St Paul's Medal of the British Association of Urologic Surgeons - given yearly to that single urologist outside of the UK that contributed significantly to world urology. He has received the 2013 F Brantley Scott Award of Excellence and the 2017 Living legend award of the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons. He is currently the Editor-In-Chief of the ISSM Video Journal of Prosthetic Urology. His notable literature contributions include strategies for infection and biofilm in penile prosthetics, the modeling procedure for Peyronie's Disease and the recently FDA approved etopic placement of implant reservoirs, and implantation of sphincters through a scrotal incision.
Wilson is most recognized for his inventions of new surgical techniques making the complex implantation of penile implants and urinary sphincters minimally invasive. Many of the modern enhancements to the penile implant and special implantation instruments/retractors are the result of Dr. Wilson's inventions and research. An editorial in the Journal of Sexual Medicine (2015;12:413) idicated Wilson "has performed and taught more penile implant surgeries than anyone in history. His current practice is limited to prosthetic urology and he continues to travel and teach others his technqiues.
