Asset management is a journey, not a destination. Learn ways to take your collection system program to the next level through staff buy-in and accountability, implementing software tools, getting more from maintenance data, turning CCTV data into actions, managing risk through rehab/replacement strategies, assessing pump stations, and implementing reliability-centered maintenance.

Workshop Schedule:
Session 8:30 – 10am (1.5 hrs)
Break 10 – 10:15 (coffee/tea provided)
Session 10:15 – 12:15 (2 hrs)
Buffet Lunch 12:15 – 1:00 (plates must be brought back into the workshop room)
Session 1:00 – 3:30pm (2.5 hrs)

Gerald Fejarang

Director of Water Reliability

Biography:

For 25 years, Gerald Fejarang has been passionately educating clients on the importance of a reliability-based asset management program as the Director of Water and Wastewater for Pinnacle Advanced Reliability Technologies (PinnacleARTTM). In this role, Gerald introduces the PinnacleARTTM way into the water and wastewater industry and helps plant operations and maintenance (O&M) managers improve their asset management programs by driving them with Reliability engineering principles.

Prior to joining the PinnacleARTTM team, Gerald was the Senior Engineer a Sacramento based engineering consulting firm where he managed the Operations Support team. Gerald provides ongoing technical support for clients for process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, developing asset management strategies, integrating Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principals and elements with O&M programs, improving methods to O&M management and strategies, launching Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), corrective maintenance support and more. He began his career as a Student Engineer at Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District in their newly formed O&M Support unit.

He holds a Professional Engineering License in Civil Engineering for California. Additionally, he is a member of the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP), Water Environment Federation (WEF), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the California Water Environment Association (CWEA). During his time at CWEA, he served as the Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President.

Personally, Gerald is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys supporting his community and global efforts by routinely contributing to associations such as the Jane Goodall Foundation, Greenpeace, Water for People, NPR, PBS and the Dr. Kerri Engineering Foundation. On his time off, Fejarang enjoys his epic light saber battles with his 9-year-old son, going mountain biking with the closest friends, backpacking, backcountry snowboarding, and keeping his engineering curiosity “somewhat managed.”

David Spencer

Biography:

Dave Spencer is a Program Development Lead for HDR Engineering. He is a professional engineer who graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Dave lives in Oceanside California but travels around the country helping utilities manage aging pipeline infrastructure. He has co-authored four research books on this topic. Dave has helped utilities managing over 70,000 miles of pipe optimize their maintenance, condition assessment, renewal, and information technology practices.

Biography:

Mr. Pour’s experience in the development of infrastructure asset management brought innovation and efficiency in the delivery of numerous asset management projects. He has over 9 years of asset management research and implementation experience. He started his asset management experience as a researcher. There, he led the efforts in developing deterioration models that scientifically quantified the decay characteristics of infrastructure assets. His areas of asset management specialization include assisting clients in performing remaining asset life calculation, risk assessment, life cycle cost projection, and project validation and prioritization.

Biography:

Todd Dmytryshyn is a Principal Engineer at Moulton Niguel Water District. Mr. Dmytryshyn is primarily responsible for execution of the District’s Capital Improvement Program, including overseeing the planning, design, and construction phases of various rehabilitation and replacement projects, as well as new District facilities. Most of Todd’s projects are related to the District’s pipeline, pump/lift station, and reservoir facilities.

Biography:

Allan Scott is a Senior Utility Management Consultant, Project Manager, and analyst at HDR, Inc. Mr. Scott has more than 29 years of experience working with water and wastewater utilities, with a focus on the application of asset management strategies and related technology systems. His experience includes helping clients implement asset management programs, improving utility operations and maintenance and capital planning work practices, conducting data analysis for utility performance measurement, assessment and implementation of information management systems, and developing strategy and planning documents for gap analysis and program improvement. Mr. Scott has a Master's Degree in Geology and lives in Sacramento, California.
