This session will provide an overview of NFPA 820 and will help you understand how to apply this standard at your facilities. Session will also cover topics discussed at most recent committee meeting working on revisions. There will be discussion on how one can influence and/or revise NFPA 820.

Zaheer Shaikh has focused his career on wastewater treatment plant design. He has worked in all phases of project development with an emphasis on design and construction support of wastewater treatment facilities. His work involved unit process evaluation, new facility layout and designs, and retrofitting of existing facilities.

Linda Leong

Biography:

Linda Leong, P.E., SFPUC
Ms. Linda Leong, PE, has been employed by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Wastewater Enterprise, for more than twenty years and works to improve the quality of life for San Francisco residents, workers, and visitors by providing customers with high-quality, efficient and reliable sewer services. She has an M.S. in Environmental Engineering, a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, and her work experience in environmental engineering includes working on water and wastewater treatment studies, planning, design, and construction. She is registered as a Civil Engineer in California and, since April 2006, has served on the NFPA Technical Committee on Wastewater Treatment Plants, which provides input to and oversight of NFPA 820 – Standard for Fire Protection in Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facilities. Linda has been an active member of CWEA, SF Bay Section, Professional Development Committee since 2000.
