Practice Area: Team Challenge Area: The Big Shift to Co-digestion
The Fresno-Clovis RWRF has been successfully codigesting FOG and food waste in their anaerobic digesters for several years. The City wants to maximize their codigestion program and digester gas production. An evaluation was carried out to determine the capital investment and operational changes required to meet this goal.
- Learn from the experience of the Fresno-Clovis WPCF codigesting FOG and food waste, both successes and lessons learned.
- Describe how an existing anaerobic digestion system can be optimized to receive the maximum amount of codigestible material and maximize digester gas.
- List regulatory and commercial drivers for codigestion of organic wastes in wastewater treatment plants in California.
