Understanding the basics of heat transfer (heat loss and heat gain) is the essential first step in one’s comprehension of thermal characteristics, installation of weatherization measures, and residential energy usage. We will cover the basics and give participants a strong foundation of knowledge on which to build their professions. This workshop is intended for those new to the energy field or for those wishing to review some important fundamentals.

Rick Karg was trained as an economist, was a building contractor for ten years, and is now the president of R.J. Karg Associates and Residential Energy Dynamics, LLC. He has been working with weatherization and home performance programs and electric and gas utilities for thirty years as an educator and consultant. Rick is a member of the ASHRAE 62.2 residential ventilation and Residential Building Committees.
