Led by ALA Past President Jim Neal, five panelists, or champions, will discuss the challenges of retaining librarians of color. Representing each of the affiliate associations, these champions will also talk about using their power to influence change in order to serve the profession.
In the second half, attendees will be assigned challenging scenarios to discuss with people at their table. Discussions, moderated by champions, will focus on building strategies that can help librarians of color navigate the workplace. Each table will share their strategies with the rest of the attendees and hear about other scenarios and strategies from their colleagues.
