Using the model "Five I's" of Integral Library Services for Communities of Color: Integrity, Inclusiveness, Interculturality, Innovation and Information presenters will review exemplary multicultural programs, collections and services developed for Latinos, African-Americans and Caribbean-Americans at Broward County Libraries. Attendees will gain an understanding of these "Five I's and will be exposed to the how to’s on creating, developing and implementing successful cultural programs in a “minority-majority” county. Programs highlighted will include: “Destination Fridays,” a journey of cultural diversity, respect and understanding, for an adult audience, developed and presented at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center; "Discovering Your Way, Family Reading Series for New Comers" for children and their families, developed and presented system wide at Broward County Libraries in conjunction with the ESOL department; and Coding for teenagers of color ("Code Fever," "Hackathon," "Girls Who Code,") successfully presented at several Broward County Libraries.
