Ms. Coley is currently the Education & Training Manager for the UNC Office Human Research Ethics. She is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) since 2003 and has 20+ years’ experience working with both behavioral and clinical research IRBs at Battelle Memorial Institute and Duke University Health System IRB for Clinical Research.
Her earlier career included work with environmental, public health and international education projects with several U.S. Departments and Agencies --EPA, NIEHS, AID, CDC, the Department of State and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
She is an active member of Public Responsibility in Medicine & Research (PRIM&R) receiving their Distinguished Service Award in 2009. Ms. Coley has made a number of presentations at PRIM&R national conferences, co-designer of a 1-day workshop for investigators; a presenter at HHS’s Office of Human Research Protections QI Workshops and at several regional bioethics conferences. Ms. Coley is a nonscientist member of the UNC-CH & Copernicus Group IRBs and an AAHRPP Site Visitor.
Ms. Coley has a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from St. Andrews Presbyterian College and a Master of Arts in College Teaching in Political Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
