Alexis Roth, MPH, PhD, is the director of the Health Equity Advancement Lab, director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Minor in the Department of Community Health and Prevention, and an assistant professor in the Department of Community Health and Prevention in the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University. Dr. Roth’s research is focused on understanding how individual, social, and environmental factors influence health disparities. In particular, she is interested in the intersection of gender and drug use on women’s health. Dr. Roth utilizes mixed methods and community-engaged research approaches, with the goal of working with community members and advocates to co-create sustainable solutions to public health problems. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Roth worked within community-based organizations and local government, primarily focusing on the prevention of HIV. As a result of these practice-based experiences, Dr. Roth constantly considers the programmatic and policy implications of her work. Dr. Roth’s current projects are funded by the American Sexually Transmitted Disease Association, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and Drexel University.
