Nadine P. Peters, JD, MPH, is a partner in the Health Care group at Verrill Dana LLP. She advises, academic medical centers, health plans, research organizations and other life sciences companies with a focus on health information privacy, data and clinical research.
Most recently, Nadine was Deputy General Counsel at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) where she advised the organization on matters related to oversight of comparative effectiveness research, data sharing, programmatic initiatives tied to patient engagement and dissemination of research findings. Nadine has extensive experience counseling on federal and state privacy laws including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), data breach management, tissue and data repository issues, and genomics research. She has specialized expertise advising health systems on privacy risks related to clinical integration, large-scale data networks, and health care quality initiatives. Before PCORI, Nadine was a partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP in the Health and Privacy & Information Management practice groups. Previously, she also served as an attorney at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the General Counsel, where she provided legal guidance to program officials at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including advising on the development of several National Coverage Determinations.
