Belinda Smith, MS, RD, CCRC, Research Education Specialist for the University of Kentucky (UK) Office of Research Integrity (ORI), is responsible for the provision of education programs to all constituents of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), management and development of HRPP policy and procedures, and consultation regarding FDA regulated clinical research. During her 30-year career she has co-authored publications, presented at local, and national conferences, developed training programs and contributed curricula to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI).
Belinda served as the Regulatory and Education Coordinator for the UK Clinical Research Organization from 2000 through 2008 where she coordinated seminar series, investigator training, and developed and initiated the Clinical Research Coordinator 101 (C101) course.
Belinda began her research career in 1987 as Nutrition Research Coordinator for the UK Metabolic Research Group (MRG) where she managed NIH, VA, and Industry funded trials in the areas of lipid disorders, diabetes, nutrition, and obesity. Belinda has a B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Eastern Kentucky University, completed a dietetic internship at Methodist Hospital of Indiana, Indianapolis, and received an M.S. degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Kentucky.
