Heather is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning her BS in Bacteriology in 1995 and DVM in 2000.
After her rotating small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, she completed a clinical pathology residency and Ph.D. studies in molecular biology of infectious diseases at the University of Florida. Heather earned board certification in 2004 and remained at University of Florida as an Assistant Professor.
Heather is a member of the AVMA, ACVP, and ASVCP.
She is a passionate educator and received local and national teaching awards recognizing her abilities. She has been active in continuing education at conferences and online since 2004.
Heather has published 10 book chapters in areas of urinalysis, clinical pathology as it relates to neurology, and other topics. Her research publications are in the areas of vector-borne diseases, in situ diagnostics, and preclinical studies of medications for human and veterinary diseases. She has public social media pages and blogs about clinical pathology and YouTube lectures on urinalysis and other topics.
Heather is a Florida gulf coast native. She joined Antech in 2014 and lives in Tampa, FL with her two black cats and two tan chiweenies.
