Social media is the fastest growing form of communication in society today. As a result, many professions, including veterinary medicine, have begun to successfully use it as a tool for connecting with clients; however, inherent risks from using social media exist for practices and their staff. This presentation will touch upon some of the benefits of using social media in your practice while raising awareness of some of the inherent hazards that can exist for veterinary personnel and veterinary practices in relation to social media. Utilizing research from veterinary practice, this session will start the discussion every practice should have. By the end, participants will leave with a number of practical guidelines that can be implemented to maximize the benefits by minimizing the risks of social media.
