Hypertension and proteinuria are common complications in dogs and cats with CKD, and both may be associated with progression of CKD. ACEi are often the first line of defense for proteinuria in dogs and cats and hypertension in dogs. Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) are a second line of defense that are gaining traction in veterinary medicine.
