Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Dr. Bastas was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry, with Honors, at Brown University. He pursued dual MD/PhD training at Boston University, where he worked on elucidating the binding specificity of Multiple Myeloma paraproteins. He completed his Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, and joined the faculty in the department of PM&R at Vanderbilt University, where he maintains active clinical and research involvement relating to Limb Restoration Care. He serves as the Director of Limb Loss Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and as the Inaugural Chair of the Limb Restoration Rehabilitation Group within the ACRM. His research relates to qualifying objective clinical assessment methods of prosthetic walking performance.
