High Performance HVAC Installation: Contractor-Centric Solutions for Delivering Comfort and Efficiency

The trade contractor is central to most every home improvement transaction, effectively making them the front line soldier in the revolution for high performing homes. Efficiency programs can triumph with contractor-centric approaches designed to enable efficient business models, deliver strong revenue streams, and achieve improved energy performance. During this session, industry experts will share best practices, tips and highlight new technologies for advancing high performance HVAC installations that offer greater efficiency, comfort and performance over typical installation and maintenance practices. Panelists will include presentations from residential efficiency programs and other in-field market actors on their experiences in using data measurement and incentive standards to drive higher-performing HVAC installations to reach greater delivered energy savings and comfort. Participants will engage in interactive discussions with industry experts about how employing a high-performance HVAC installation approach can improve your business offerings to customers, as well as your program- and home-performance within the marketplace.

Steve Dunn

Project Manager
U.S. Department of Energy

Steve Dunn has over twenty years of experience working to advance innovative energy and climate change solutions in the nonprofit sectors and government. In his current position, he is a Project Manager with the U.S. Department of Energy, Building Technologies Office, in the Residential Buildings Integration program, supporting initiatives focused on energy efficiency financing, advanced HVAC technologies and local governments. At DOE, he led the project management team responsible for a $500 million portfolio of 40 award recipients under the Better Buildings Neighborhhood Program. Prior to DOE, he worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, where he led national efforts to advance clean energy and climate policies at the state and local level.

Will Baker

Will Baker joined MEEA in 2010, working with the Residential Team to guide the growth of many successful programs, including Illinois Home Performance, HVAC SAVE and Building America research. Today, Will leads MEEA’s core program teams, including Lighting & Education, Commercial Programs, and Residential Programs and is focused on growth and program innovation in areas such as training and emerging technologies. He began his career developing renewable energy projects as a consultant in East Africa. Baker holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and an M.P.A. in International Energy Management and Policy from Columbia University in New York.

Torsten brings over 17 years of experience in research, analysis, construction and project management, with more than 7 years leadership experience in program management and implementation, to every project.
