Should contractors love or fear smart home technologies? Both! They can bring the behind the scenes work of a contractor to life, and provide customer joy. Not all smart home technologies are created equal, however, so this session will help contractors wade through the complex and exciting world of the smart home. This will be an interactive, informative, and eye-opening session.

NEEP (Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships)

Claire Miziolek is the Technology and Market Solutions Senior Manager at Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP). Her role is to help speed the adoption of efficiency solutions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Among other things, Claire works to develop strategies and recommendations to bring efficient technologies, such as home energy management systems, to broader scale and ultimately decrease and optimize the energy used by homes and businesses.

Scott Needham

President
Princeton Air Conditioning

Scott Needham is the President of Princeton Air Conditioning which was founded by Joseph Needham in 1971. He attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island where he studied Architecture.

He is Building Performance Institute certified (BA, Envelope, AC/Heat Pump & Heating) & his company has been an accredited BPI business since 2008.

Mr. Needham serves on many local non-profit boards and Chambers of Commerce and is past President of his Rotary Club.

Appointed by the Mercer County Board of Chosen freeholders in Dec. 2013, Scott now serves on its Workforce Development Board (WDB).

Launched in 2013, Mr. Needham is Co-Chair of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Independent Business Alliance which helps educate consumers about buying decisions, helps businesses grow (creating jobs), and creates more visibility for independent businesses.

Kara Saul Rinaldi

Vice President of Government Affairs & Policy
Home Performance Coalition

As the Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy of the Home Performance Coalition, Kara Saul Rinaldi works to educate state and federal policymakers and regulators about residential energy efficiency and whole home energy efficiency policy initiatives including leading its work on energy efficiency and the clean air act, advancing the smart home, and reforming cost-effectiveness testing. A leading energy and climate policy expert, Kara has directed national policy, communications, and grassroots campaigns spearheading education efforts with the Administration and Congress on tax, appropriations, and authorization issues for national and international NGOs and corporations. Prior to working with HPC, Kara was the climate and energy policy lead at Environmental Resources Management, Director of Government and Public Affairs for Owens Corning, Senior Director of Policy for the Alliance to Save Energy and a legislative and communications advocate on the Climate Change Campaign at World Wildlife Fund and worked in the offices of Rep. Lynn C. Woolsey (D-Calif.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).
