How a building’s occupants use energy is just as important in determining that structure’s consumption as is the building’s technology. Occupant education has been shown to increase energy savings in the Weatherization Assistance Program by 50%. At its best, every contact with the customer (Energy Auditor, Crew Chief, Installer, Inspector) has some educational content and motivates the occupants to save energy.
