This presentation will describe an enhanced revision of endodontic regenerative therapy to treat non-vital or previously treated open apex teeth. This incorporates the addition of a bovine collagen-carbonate apatite scaffold to the currently established regenerative endodontic technique. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and two-dimensional radiography were used pre-operatively and at follow-up visits to assess healing. Follow-up findings include resolution of periapical radiolucencies and diffuse radio-opacities in the coronal portions of the canal spaces. The technique of adding a collagen-carbonate apatite scaffold to the existing regenerative endodontic therapy protocol results in substantial hard tissue repair. Case reports will be presented and the technique of placing the collagen-carbonate apatite scaffold will be reviewed. Proper case selection and treatment of regenerative endodontic failures will also be reviewed. New directions in enhancing the regenerative technique will be discussed.
