Tooth autotransplantation can be an effective approach to replace a hopeless tooth when a suitable donor tooth is present. Since complications such as root resorption and ankylosis may occur after tooth transplantation, there have been many studies on the key factors that enable successful outcome of this treatment option.
This session will cover the surgical procedures, outcomes and prognostic factors of tooth autotransplantation based on clinical studies at the Microscope Center, Department of Conservative Dentistry of Yonsei University, Korea. This lecture will also suggest possible ideas to prevent the ankylosis of the transplanted tooth, and will discuss the technical and biological aspects of tooth autotransplantation for more predictable outcome.
