Dr. B. Ellen Byrne’s academic background includes a bachelor of science in pharmacy, doctor of dental surgery, general practice residency, Certificate in Endodontics and a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology, all from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is currently a professor of endodontics and senior associate dean of the VCU School of Dentistry. Dr. Byrne has authored several chapters in the ADA's "Guide to Dental Therapeutics," is a past member of the Joint Commission on National Dental Board Examinations, a member on the Committee for the Integrated National Board Dental Examination, a curriculum consultant for the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has won multiple alumni awards for teaching and service. She is a fellow in the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. She is a past member of the AAE research and scientific affairs committee and the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs. She is a gifted and entertaining speaker on pharmacology, and has presented at national meetings such as the AAE, ADA, and the Hinman Dental meeting.
