The optimal goal of endodontics is to treat apical pathology and prevent recurrence of infection to root canal systems. Periapical lesions may fail to heal after primary root canal treatment due to different mechanical or biological causes. However, the correct decision regarding the retreatment options are difficult and challenging depending on the accessibility to root canal systems.
