This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic factors on endodontic microsurgery.
Methods: 76 cases who had preoperative and postoperative radiographic examination and clinical examination were analyzed. The cases were at least one-year follow-up. Meanwhile, among them there were 55 patient who had both preoperative and postoperative cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) examination. Chi-square tests or the Fisher exact test was used. Results: There was significant difference on success rate between the groups preoperative probing depth (> 3mm) and preoperative probing depth (≤3mm) ( P=0.02). The Kappa value between postoperative conventional periapical radiography (CPR) and CBCT examination was 0.267 (P=0.04).
Conclusion: The preoperative probing depth affects the microsurgery outcome. The CBCT is more accurate than CPR on the outcome evaluation of endodontic microsurgery.
