Current conventional disinfection protocols have provided successful clinical outcomes. However, they have not induced a favorable microenvironment for the regeneration of the pulp-dentin complex in teeth with prior infection. The presence of prior infection may influence the characteristics of tissues formed in the root canal space after regenerative endodontic treatment. Furthermore, there is a lack of convincing evidence about how disinfection protocols may affect the outcome of regenerative endodontic procedures. This presentation will review the perspectives in disinfection protocols for regenerative endodontic procedures.
