Barbara Henry, Principal, Barbara Henry & Associates is devoted to transforming museums into welcoming and vibrant cultural places and as partners embraced by diverse audiences. With more than 25 years of experience, her expertise includes visitor-centered and community engagement strategies, educational initiatives, productive collaborations and partnerships, and a vibrant organizational culture that is critical for innovatiing in the 21st century. With clients nationally and internationally, she provides coaching, project reviews and recommendations, and other services including customized "lab" experiences, connecting dynamic public engagement with transformative institutional-wide practices. Ms. Henry is currently President of The Museum Group, a national collective of museum leadership consultants. She is a visiting faculty member for the annual TyPA Lab on Museum Management in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Henry held executive positions as Lab Center Director and Chief Curator of Education at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA). She was a leader in transforming OMCA’s galleries, and co-editor of the book, How We/Visitors Changed the Gallery of California Art at the Oakland Museum of California. Ms. Henry has been a panel reviewer for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation. She holds a MAT (Masters of Art in Teaching) in Museum Education from George Washington University and a BA in Art History from U.C. Berkeley.
