Sharon Vatsky, Director of School and Family Programs at the Solomon. R. Guggenheim Museum oversees programs for youth, families and teachers. She has facilitated workshops for teachers and museum educators at universities and art museums in the US and internationally and taught graduate level courses in Museum Education at New York University, the City University of New York and Teachers College, Columbia University as well as undergraduate courses in drawing, painting, design, art history and arts education.
Her book Museum Gallery Activities: A Handbook was recently published by Rowman & Littlefield for the American Alliance of Museums. Prior to joining the Guggenheim in 2000, she was Curator of Education at the Queens Museum in New York for more than a decade.
Vatsky holds graduate degrees in art from State University New York, Albany, Hartford Art School and an undergraduate degree from New York University and has completed course credits in the doctoral program in Art and Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is the 2008 recipient of the Charles Marshall Robertson Award presented annually to an educator “who has made a significant contribution to art education” and serves on the Board of Directors at Bronx Art Space.
