Interpretation Manager
Conner Prairie
Kelsey VanVoorst has worked in the museum field since 2011, starting at the prestigious Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was a front-of-the-line interpreter. She now works at Conner Prairie, an award-winning living history museum in Fishers, Indiana. Through her time with Conner Prairie, Kelsey has worked in several capacities, including her current position as Interpretation Manager. In this role, Kelsey handles staff training and scheduling, as well as creating and implementing inclusion and diversity protocol and programming. As such, Kelsey is responsible for several new Conner Prairie programs, including days dedicated to museum guests with autism and those who suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. In addition to her museum experience, Kelsey is a professional improvisational and scripted actor, which has helped hone her communication and interpretation skills. She also directs a children’s group in the art of improvisation in Carmel, Indiana. Kelsey is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Greek and Roman Classic Studies. She feels very lucky to be in a position to share her knowledge of and respect for history, and loves being able to bring it to life for others.
