Southeast Museum of Photography
James Pearson came to museums from a Studio Art and Art History background. His first position was in collections management and exhibitions coordination at a small academic museum where he also began teaching Museum Studies. He is now the director of the Southeast Museum of Photography and an adjunct instructor at Daytona State College. The Southeast Museum of Photography is an academic museum that relies on its parent institution for well over 90% of its annual budget. Over the past year he has been exploring funding opportunities, strategies, and seeking out new revenue streams in an effort to help his institution's parent organization off-set museum expenses.
