Melissa Bechhoefer is the Director of Integrative Collections at the Denver Museum of Nature &Science, overseeing all aspects of collections management, archives, and library. She holds a Masters in Museum Studies and Anthropology, and has 20 years of collections management and registration experience from a wide variety of institutions, including History Colorado and the National Park Service. Her collections move experience started in grad school when she planned the move of an archaeological collection from the pigeon-infested attic of a condemned campus building, and continues to this day as DMNS installs its over 4 million objects and specimens in the new state-of-the-art Avenir Collections Center. Melissa has been Project Director or Manager on five IMLS and NEH grants to move and rehouse collections and prides herself on her flexible and pragmatic approach to the collections moves she leads.
