Senior Vice President, Exhibitions
9/11 Memorial & Museum
Ian Kerrigan is the Senior Vice President for Exhibitions at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City where he oversees interpretive planning and curatorial research, media production and digital development, design and installation, and exhibition project management and policymaking for the institution. His exhibition projects there have won AAM’s Excellence in Exhibitions award and several of AAM’s MUSE awards. Prior to joining the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Ian worked at the Washington DC–based exhibition design firm Gallagher & Associates, where he coordinated design, content, and master planning projects for cultural, history, and music museums across the country. Ian completed his undergraduate studies in anthropology at Northwestern University and earned his master’s degree in anthropology at The George Washington University. He teaches museum theory and practice, and is a frequent guest lecturer at design and museum studies programs on exhibition development, community engagement, project management, and displaying difficult subject matter. Ian serves as a board member of the National Association for Museum Exhibition, a grant reviewer for the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a peer reviewer for AAM’s Museum Assessment Program, and a contributor to the journal Exhibition.
