Erika Katayama currently serves as Sr. Director, Audience Engagement at the San Diego Museum of Man. In addition, she is most recently an IMLS field and panel grant reviewer, Smithsonian grant panel reviewer, San Diego EMP board member, AAM Museum Assessment Program evaluator, and WMA conference presenter. Miss Katayama hails from Oceanside, CA with vast museum experience: education, curatorial, retail shops, visitor services, exhibitions, and collections management. She holds a BA in Art History and Education from the University of CA at Santa Cruz, and a MA in Art History from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. Her past employers include the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, Smithsonian Institution, Louisiana State Museum, LSU Museum of Art, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art, and Mingei International Museum. Her experience spans over 18 years, with 8 years in the field of registration and collections management.
