Associate Director of Education
The Contemporary Austin
Emily Cayton is an artist/educator in Austin, Texas. She is the Associate Director of Education at The Contemporary Austin, a museum with two dynamic locations: Laguna Gloria, a 14-acre sculpture park on Lake Austin; and the Jones Center, an exhibition space on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin. Through docent programs, teacher workshops, studio sessions, community partnerships, and conversational tours, Emily models and encourages divergent thinking and open-ended exploration using the art of our time as a catalyst for dialog. As an artist, Emily creates solo and collaboratively in addition to running a studio complex and gallery space, Fancy Fancy. She serves as the Museum Division Chair for the Texas Art Education Association. Prior to working at The Contemporary Austin, Emily was the Gallery Manager of the Visual Arts Center and Bass Concert Hall, both arts spaces in the center of the University of Texas at Austin's campus. She earned her MA from the University of Texas at Austin and her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
