Senior Creative Developer

Megan Smith is a Senior Creative Developer at the National Museum of American History, specializing in connecting visitors to history through exhibits, programs, and digital products. Megan developed the the first preschool exhibition on the National Mall, Wegmans Wonderplace, and has led interpretation and exhibition development for many of the museum's flagship projects from American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith to the Star-Spangled Banner. Megan is the project director for What It Means to Be American, a national multi-platform conversation about American history and identity and the cofounder of the National Youth Summit. She developed NMAH's first Innovation Challenge and works to build stronger, happier, and more creative project teams. She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Amherst College and an M.A. in American Studies from the George Washington University. She is a 2011 graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute's NextGen Program, and a member of the inaugural class of the Smithsonian's Emerging Leaders Development Program.
