Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona
Anne Breckenridge Barrett is the Director of the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona. The Center is the premier research collection of American photographic fine art and archives, promoting creative inquiry, dialogue, and appreciation of photography's enduring cultural influence. Her experience spans 25 years as an arts professional and attorney with domestic and international expertise in non-profit management, the law, leadership, fundraising, exhibition planning and administration, and strategic work for social impact. She served as the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at a Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, COO of an arts based non-profit, and practiced law in a variety of settings including the Arizona State Attorney General's office, a large corporate law firm, and community legal services. She worked in exhibition registration at The Walters Art Museum, Art Services International, the Whitney Museum of American Art and Sotheby's. Anne has supervised and executed exhibitions in major institutions around the world. Her s work focuses on leadership and best practice. Anne speaks and writes on issues of museum management, ethics, contracts, copyright, governance, social impact, and leveraging the power of innovation and collaboration. She is a Getty Leadership Institute alumni, a member of the State Bar of Arizona; the Museum Lawyers Group of the American Law Institute; the American Bar Association Museum Art Law Committee; the International Exhibition Organizers Group; and a former steering committee member of the American Exhibition Organizers Group.
