Hillary Spencer is world-traveling, risk-taking, museum professional. While traveling exhibitions is her primary expertise, she enjoys working with institutions to identify new engagement and content strategies. For the past year, Hillary has been leading a global conversation on museum leadership and the role of risk in creating change. Her conversations on the cost of risk, the definition of failure and the impact of change have been a call to action.
Hillary is currently the Director of Nomad Exhibitions and a board member of the International Committee for Exhibition Exchange (ICOM). Before opening the New York office of Nomad, Hillary managed the traveling exhibitions program at the American Museum of Natural History for ten years. She is an alumna of the Getty Leadership Institute Next Generation program and is pages away from finishing her thesis, focusing on how contemporary South African artists are transforming the historic photographic archive to include the black LGBTQ community.
