Beth Twiss Houting is the Senior Director of Programs & Services at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she oversees on-site, online, and outreach education and interpretation programs. Some of her favorite projects have been Artist Embedded and Audience Embedded, both funded by the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, to develop new models for program development for history organizations. Before coming to HSP, she held a number of positions in the Philadelphia region, including Director of Education at the Chester County Historical Society; Vice President of Interpretation at the National Constitution Center; and Curator of Education at Winterthur. In addition, she was the director of the Museum Communication Program at the University of the Arts. Throughout her career, she has served on museum professional committees (six years as chair of CARE), lectured, published, and consulted. Beth's consulting work has included work for art and history museums conducting visitor research and interpretative planning. She holds a BA in History from Pennsylvania State University and a MA from the University of Delaware in the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture with a Certificate in Museum Studies.
