Seeding Buddhism with Multiculturalism
D. Mitra Barua, Gragg Postdoctoral Fellow in Transnational Asian Studies at the Chao Center for Asian Studies (CCAS) at Rice University, is author of Seeding Buddhism with Multiculturalism: The Transmission of Sri Lankan Buddhism in Toronto (McGill-Queen’s University Press, May 30, 2019). Barua is a scholar of South and Southeast Asian religions. He received training in both textual as well as social scientific studies of religion. His research examines the role of religion in nationalism, identity politics and transnational connections in South and Southeast Asia as well as among its diaspora populations in North America.
