Restech | Mederi‑RF’s line of minimally invasive tools and therapies helps to accurately diagnose, manage, and treat reflux disorders and bowel incontinence. Our therapeutic products, Stretta Therapy (for GERD) and Secca Therapy (for bowel incontinence), utilize non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) energy. These procedures remodel sphincter muscles (LES and UES), thereby improving function, providing significant symptom relief, and dramatic improvement in quality-of-life. RF energy has been shown to thicken the musculature and increase the size and amount of smooth muscle fibers in the treatment zone. The result is a measurable strengthening of the LES and a reduction in transient LES relaxations, without stricture, fibrosis, or scarring. Studies show this effect may repair the deficient sphincter and restore the natural barrier function of the EGJ.
When patients suffer from chronic gastroesophageal or laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (GERD or LPRD) that is not well controlled with medications, or where long-term medications are not a viable option, Stretta is an alternative to surgery and implants. Stretta Therapy is a unique non-surgical outpatient procedure, performed transorally. It takes about an hour and patients return to normal activities within a few days.
