Phil A. Hart, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at The Ohio State University. He earned his doctorate at the University of Missouri, Columbia, then completed a residency in Internal Medicine, a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and a clinical Pancreatology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is currently the Medical Director of the OSU Section of Pancreatic Disorders.
Dr. Hart is a councilor for the International Association of Pancreatology and Associate Editor for Pancreatology. His work has appeared in clinical journals, including Gastroenterology, Gut, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Pancreatology, and Pancreas. He has published extensively extensively regarding the management and long-term outcomes of autoimmune pancreatitis. Other academic interests include metabolism and nutrition in pancreatic disorders, including pancreatogenic diabetes secondary to chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Dr. Hart is a NIH-funded investigator as a multi-PI for Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer. He has received various awards for excellence in professionalism and teaching, outstanding clinical performance, and patient care.
