Dr. Paul Moayyedi is the Audrey Campbell Chair of Ulcerative Colitis Research in the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute at McMaster University. He is also the Assistant Dean of Research at McMaster University. He was joint Editor-in-Chief of The American Journal of Gastroenterolog from 2010-2015. He qualified from Bristol University in 1988 and trained in gastroenterology at Leeds' General Infirmary, UK. He was awarded a PhD in 1999 and a Master's in Public Health in 2000, both from the University of Leeds. He was appointed Professor of Gastroenterology Health Services Research at the University of Birmingham in 2001 and then moved to McMaster University, Hamilton in 2004. Dr. Moayyedi has published over 385 peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters. His h index is 103 and his work has been cited over 44,000 times. He is a proponent of evidence-based medicine, and is the joint coordinating editor of the Upper Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Diseases Cochrane Review Group.
