Mark Russo, MD, MPH, FACG, is Medical Director of Liver Transplantation, Chief Division of Hepatology, and Professor of Medicine at Carolinas Healthcare-Atrium Health. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1992 and completed his residency, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowship at UNC. He is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. He has served on a number of national committees for ACG, including the Clinical Research Committee, Public Relations Committee, Education Committee, and SAT subcommittee, as well as on committees for the AASLD, AGA, AST and UNOS. He has been the PI on dozens of clinical trials in hepatitis C and other liver diseases, and has more than 100 publications on research in liver diseases and transplantation. He is an Associate Editor for The American Journal of Gastroenterology.
