Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are inspired by the biological behaviors of the neurons. This computational model has been applied to various fields including engineering, science, and medicine. Neurorehabilitation aims to facilitate improvement in physical/cognitive functioning and impairments due to neurological disorders. Advances in medical technology generate an emergence of big data, which requires a more efficient and powerful methods to analyze big data generated by rehabilitation clinics and research laboratories. Preliminary attempts to use ANNs in neurorehabilitation showed a promising future. However, further studies in the potential use of ANNs in neurorehabilitation are warranted.
