This symposia provides a broad view of diversity, inclusion and representation in rehabilitation science and practice. We will explore the historical and cultural underpinnings of underrepresentation and as explore the nuances between disability and diversity. We will also present recent data on awards for scholarship by women in rehabilitation medical societies and highlight recent efforts by ACRM's NDNG Awards Task Force. Finally, we will explore the intricacies of race, class, ethnicity, and gender in the mentoring and development of junior rehabilitation scientists with particular focus on factors that foster supportive rehabilitation science environments.
