Abiodun Akinwuntan is the Dean of the School of Health Professions and Professor of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science and Professor of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Akinwuntan received his doctoral and master’s degrees in neuromotor rehabilitation from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven) in Belgium, master’s degrees in public health and business administration from Augusta University, and a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Lagos in Nigeria.
Dr. Akinwuntan is an authority on the use of simulation and virtual technologies to improve daily living activities in the neurologically impaired. He is a member of the Simulation Measurement of Motor Vehicles Operator Performance Committee of the Transportation Research Board and in 2007 served on the Medical Expert Panel on Stroke and Commercial Truck Driving of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In 2014, Dr. Akinwuntan completed a Fulbright Scholar Fellowship in Nigeria and was named to the Fulbright Specialist Roster in 2015. He was awarded a 2016 Fulbright Specialist Award to Iceland and currently serves as a member of the four-person peer review committee for all Fulbright grant applications to West and Central Africa.
