Lauren A. Martin Palmer, MS, PhD, is a gerontologist and research public health analyst in the Quality Measurement and Health Policy program at RTI International. Dr. Palmer has a decade of experience in aging research and health policy, most recently related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality measures for post-acute care settings with a focus on measures related to functional outcomes and for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP). In addition, she leads and provides support in the confidential feedback and public reporting of IRF quality measures. Dr. Palmer recently presented research on post-acute care quality and data standardization at the Post-Acute Care Safety and Quality Summit and the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) World Congress. Broadly, her research interests include understanding the dynamic relationship between health care quality and factors such as aging, social support, and health disparities. She received her masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Massachusetts Boston's Gerontology program which is distinctive for its emphasis on the relationship between research, social science, and policy.
