Ms. M. Kokkinou is a fully licensed Clinical Psychologist practitioner. Throughout her six years career, she has worked in various highly demanding mental health services settings, with an emphasis on clinical assessment and intervention therapies for both children and adults. She has worked for the Intensive Care Forum (ICF), as a Clinical Psychologist of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Nicosia General Hospital, dealing with life issues and disabilities. At the ICU, she was also involved in a variety of research projects and she is the author of numerous publications and articles in Psychological and Medical research journals. She has also worked at the ‘Children’s House’ (Hope For Children CRC Policy Center) with the duties of performing assessment and intervention for cases of suspected child sexual abuse, as well as providing written reports and testimony at trials.
Currently, Ms. Kokkinou is employed by the Ministry of Health, at Mental Health Services at Athalassaʼs Psychiatric Hospital, performing patient diagnostic assessments and brief therapies. Moreover, she is seconded to the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, at the Central Prison Institution, performing psychological assessment of convicts for the Parole Board and for the Supervisory Authority for persons convicted of offenses of sexual nature against minors.
She is the holder of BSc degree in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London with Honours (2011), as well as MSc degree in Mental Health at Kingʼs College (2012), London (Institute of Psychiatry). She also possesses an MSc degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nicosia and she is currently a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Cyprus, with specialization in Traumatic Brain Injury and Neuropsychology.
