The therapeutic approach based on the international classification of functionality allows having a better rehabilitation prognosis with improved functionality and successful transition to adulthood. There are some instruments that according to ICF can be used like ASIA, SCIM III self report for youth, sixt minutes walking test, 10metters walk test, PEDI (body structures and functions domain), Wee FIM and Kid Screen 27 (Participation domain )with pediatric spinal cord injuries, however there are other assessment instruments that allow evaluation of efficacy and follow-up of interventions in this population.
Demyelinating disease in childhood are heterogenous, turning into a clinical challenge. To ensure a timely diagnosis and proper therapeutic intervention, it is necessary the participation of the physiatrist focused towards the identification of body structures and function alterations and limitation of daily activities in order to ensue functionality, Independence and promotion of transition to adulthood without complications.
